Welcome Founded 5th May 1969, we are a friendly chess club serving the Sedgley and Dudley area of the West Midlands. We meet on Tuesday evenings throughout the year and welcome all players from beginners to masters. 'A' vs Kidderminster "B" WDCL Report An understrength 'A' team managed to beat Kidderminster due to help from the lower boards. Marcus Butler won in over 100 moves in a 2Ns pawn ending. Club record?
'A' vs "B" WDCL Report The latest encounter ended with a resounding victory for the A team 5.1/2 - 1/2. The match was in doubt as the A team was missing Andrew McCumiskey and Dave Worthington which meant the A team needed two B team members to make up the team leaving the B team short. After much negotiation the match started at 8.15 after agreeing to have only one player from the B team. Board one saw Mike Share drawing with Barry Smith surprisingly after everyone else had finished. Board two John Rich for the B team tried an early attack against my Bishops opening which ended in a quick win for white winning the queen and more at move 17 not many people fail to castle against this opening and survive. Board three John Phillips soon gained the upper hand against Chris Lane and secured the first win of the night. Board four Ken Francis found a mating attack against Chris Bateson very early on in the middle game. Board five Rod Price defeated Ken May Board six Dave Webb defeated Chris Heathcock the current C team board one.
